Rent an Icarus server: plan your world and your next mission

If you want to rent an Icarus server, first clarify which existing world or which new mission should run on it. For a group with an established base, a safe move is the top priority. For changing shared expeditions, managing save games is especially important. Ask the host specifically how you select the desired world and load it again later. A general mention of save management is too vague for that.

RocketWerkz documents loading, continuing and creating prospects as separate server functions. Look for a plan that gives you access to this management through a clear panel or the intended settings. Also decide who may create new save games or delete existing ones. For a fixed group, these rights should be distributed deliberately so that not every participant needs the same far-reaching powers.

Take over existing prospects completely and unchanged

The official migration guide explicitly warns against changing the prospect file and its name. Therefore choose a host with documented import and access to the required files. Before the move, keep an unchanged backup on your own computer. Then test with the group whether the right state was actually loaded before you continue playing on the new server.

Ask not only about automatic backups, but about practical restoring: which states remain available, can you download them yourself, and can a backup be restored without reinstalling? Can I transfer a local Icarus save game to a rented server?

RocketWerkz documents the move of prospect files. The host must allow the matching import. Back up the file beforehand and do not change its name or content on a hunch.

Does my Icarus world keep running when nobody is online?

The behavior depends on the server settings. Icarus has its own options for empty prospects and the way back to the lobby. Ask the host for the specific configuration instead of equating constant operation with an unchanged world simulation.
