A Fold Apart: A Long-Distance Relationship, Folded

In A Fold Apart, Lightning Rod Games tells the story of two people whose careers keep them physically apart. A teacher and an architecture professional try to keep their relationship alive across the distance. Instead of following the story only through dialogue, you experience misunderstandings and moments of closeness directly through the game world: what first looks like an insurmountable gap can often be solved from a different angle.

Fold paper, find the way

The scenes look like small three-dimensional paper dioramas. You rotate and fold the environment, flip parts over and connect paths that were previously separate. More than 50 handcrafted puzzles accompany the couple’s story. Switching between the two perspectives shows how the same message can be understood in very different ways. You can choose the couple’s pairing and play this calm, story-driven puzzle journey alone.

Style, music and gameplay

Pastel colours, papery surfaces that look three-dimensional, and a soundtrack composed by Riley Koenig define the adventure. It centres on spatial thinking, communication and how to keep closeness despite distance. A Fold Apart is a complete single-player game; the verified Steam DLC overview lists no separately sold player expansions.
