Die Säulen der Erde: The game on iPhone and iPad
In the iOS version of Ken Follett’s Die Säulen der Erde, you explore 12th-century England. The story begins in the village of Kingsbridge, where the monk Philip plans the building of a cathedral, the young Jack seeks a future as a master builder, and the noblewoman Aliena has to fight political intrigue and the loss of her family. In hand-painted 2D scenes you hold conversations, investigate locations and make decisions that affect individual episodes of the story.
Important difference from the PC and console version
The official Apple App Store sells this version explicitly as “Buch 1: Aus der Asche”. These are the first seven chapters of the adventure, which was originally planned as three books. The store page does not list a verified complete 21-chapter version or books 2 and 3 as separately available. The iOS app therefore cannot simply be equated with the full PC, Xbox, PS4 or Switch content.
Voice acting and controls
The mobile version was released for iPhone and iPad and uses touch controls. The app offers full German and English voice acting, historical background and orchestral music. It was released in Mar 2018 and is offered under its own Apple app ID 1267287230.
