NUTS – A Surveillance Mystery was released on January 22, 2021 for iPhone and iPad in the Apple Arcade catalogue of the time. In this unusual exploration adventure, you are sent into Melmoth Forest as a junior researcher to document the paths of the squirrels that live there. You set up a research station in a caravan, place cameras during the day and review the footage at night.

Watch squirrels and decode secrets

By moving cameras and comparing the recorded movements, you reconstruct the animals’ routes, track down their hideouts and gather evidence for your supervisor, Dr. Nina Scholz of Viago University. The striking two-colour graphic style, spoken dialogue and carefully placed natural sounds accompany a story that slowly develops from a research assignment into a mystery about the forest.

Historical Apple Arcade version

The touch version was a standalone release for Apple’s mobile devices and was part of Apple Arcade. It was removed from Apple Arcade in October 2023 and can no longer be downloaded there. This listing documents the historical iOS version; it is not a currently available iPhone key or a new Android release. For new game purchases, the available PC and Nintendo Switch versions are the relevant alternatives.
