That Dragon, Cancer tells a very personal story about illness, family and memory on iPhone and iPad. Numinous Games drew on the experiences of Ryan and Amy Green with their son Joel. In small, symbolically designed scenes you hear voices and memories, watch everyday life and difficult moments, and experience a story about hope, love and grief.
Interactive memory journey on iOS
The mobile version carries the autobiographical story into a touchscreen format. The story is conveyed through simple interactions, atmospheric images and spoken passages; it is not a classic game campaign with combat and points. A full exploration takes about two hours. The narrative game is designed for one player only and uses English text and voices.
Release and availability
The iOS version was released on Oct 6, 2016 for Apple mobile devices on the App Store. It was sold there under product ID 1091640857; the store listed Tap Happy LLC as the seller. According to archived App Store data, the app was removed from sale on Apr 17, 2025. It is therefore currently not an iOS title that can be bought new.
