Ticket to Ride: First Journey brings the standalone junior version of Ticket to Ride to smartphones and tablets. On the colorful animated maps of North America and Europe you collect colored train cars, claim routes between cities and try to make the connections required by destination tickets. The simplified rules are aimed especially at young players and families, but it remains its own digital board game, not an expansion of Ticket to Ride: Classic Edition.
Six tickets and colorful city artwork
Whoever completes six destination tickets wins the game. Along the way you get to know important cities and landmarks on both continents. Wins let you collect illustrated memory pictures. An interactive tutorial and simple drag-and-drop moves explain the rules right on screen.
Against the AI alone or with up to four players
In solo mode you can play against AI opponents of varying strength. Up to four people can play together in Pass-and-Play mode by passing the device after each turn. A separately bookable online multiplayer mode or additional map DLCs are not confirmed.
The historical iOS app for iPhone and iPad
Asmodee Digital released the standalone iOS version on Sep 27, 2017 as a paid universal app for iPhone and iPad. The Apple app ID the publisher linked at the time is 1210665600. The original app cannot reliably be found as a new purchase in today’s German App Store and is therefore documented as a historical, no longer offered edition. Owners of an earlier licence should not assume that reinstalling is guaranteed. For the PC game there is a separate Steam licence; iPhone and iPad, by contrast, belong together in exactly this iOS listing.
