Card-en-Ciel: roguelite card battles in digital game worlds

Card-en-Ciel combines turn-based deckbuilding battles with a Japanese role-playing game. You play as Neon, known as the “gaming chair detective”, who investigates mysterious incidents in an unfinished virtual game called Rust Tactics. Characters from other game worlds have appeared there and apparently are developing a will of their own. Together with developer Ancie, you explore the affected dungeons and search for the causes.

Collect cards and combine them with music

On a grid of tiles, you use cards to decide on attacks, movement and abilities. The cards also serve as units for your tactical turns. The game includes more than 300 collectible cards and 50 songs from so-called Muses. Their songs can trigger powerful effects and open up new strategies. In changing roguelite runs, you rebuild your deck, defeat bosses and unlock more game worlds. Along with the single-player campaign, online duels for two players are possible.

Native Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

On Jan 29, 2026, the standalone Switch 2 version of the base game was released. It offers a higher frame rate and an optional 4K resolution mode. The Joy-Con 2 also enable mouse control, which you can use for example during card battles, while you play the dungeons with the controller as usual. If you already own the original Switch version, you can upgrade it to the new console version with a separately sold upgrade pack. The so-called Switch 2 Edition is therefore the regular native base game here, not a separate Deluxe listing.
