Sword of the Sea on Nintendo Switch 2 – the adventure on the hoverblade
With Sword of the Sea you travel as a revived Wraith through a world of sand waves, ruins, snow and water. Your magical hoverblade rides like a mix of surfboard, snowboard and skateboard. You build speed on the dunes, jump over ancient structures, grind along huge chains and search for hidden paths in a mysterious necropolis.
During exploration you bring the vanished sea back. Dry dunes turn into shimmering water landscapes, sea creatures return and open up new routes. Instead of long dialogue, the single-player adventure by Giant Squid relies on movement, imagery and music by Austin Wintory. The studio previously developed ABZÛ and The Pathless.
Nintendo Switch 2 version and digital purchase
The standalone Nintendo Switch 2 edition is officially announced for Oct 29, 2026. The publisher of the new console version is Fictions. Nintendo showed the version in the Indie World Showcase on Oct 28. This is explicitly a Switch 2 release: a standalone release for the original Nintendo Switch has not been confirmed. If you want to buy the game digitally or compare a download code, make sure you check the correct Switch 2 platform and the redemption region. A separate Nintendo eShop product ID and a verified Switch 2 language list were not yet reliably available at the time of the announcement and are not derived from PC data.
