In Disney•Pixar Cars Toon: Mater’s Tall Tales, released in Germany as Cars Toon: Hooks unglaubliche Geschichten, the exaggerated adventures of tow truck Hook become a collection of minigames. With Lightning McQueen and many other characters from Radiator Springs, you replay scenes from the Pixar shorts, from stunt runs and drag races to monster truck contests.
30 minigames on Nintendo Wii
The Wii version contains around 30 minigames with tasks for one to four players. You compete against each other in short contests or play together. Story and free-play modes lead through several locations inspired by Hook’s stories. The game focuses on family-friendly motion and dexterity tasks rather than a classic racing simulation with a large open world.
Release and German version
The game launched in North America on October 19, 2010 on Wii, and the German PAL version Hooks unglaubliche Geschichten followed on November 11, 2010. The original cover carries a USK 0 rating. The Wii version was developed by Papaya Studio and published by Disney Interactive Studios. Unlike the Windows version, the Wii version is a physical console game and not a Steam key.
Standalone Wii release
The related Windows version also came out later on Steam and has a separate PC license. Other games in the Cars series and the Mater’s Tall Tales Pack for Cars 2: The Video Game are separate products, not DLC for this minigame collection. An official standalone Wii Deluxe Edition with additional game content is not documented.
