NUTS – Original Soundtrack is the separately sold digital music album for the squirrel surveillance adventure NUTS. Composer and sound designer Almut “Muuutsch” Schwacke created ten pieces that bring the mysterious atmosphere of Melmoth Forest to life outside the game. The album runs about 42 minutes and is not an additional level pack or a full version of the game.
Ten tracks from Melmoth Forest
The album includes “A Notion”, “Beginnings”, “Melmoth Forest”, “Sanctuary”, “Levee”, “Forest Pilgrims”, “In Pursuit”, “At The Bottom”, “The Other Side” and “Dark Blue”. The tracks pick up the restrained, at times eerie mood of the search for the squirrels. The Steam download includes the audio recordings and an additional option for higher-quality audio files.
PC music album instead of standalone game
Steam lists the NUTS soundtrack as a standalone music app with the ID 1550970. It is an add-on to the NUTS game world, but does not require a separate console edition. For the PC files, Steam lists 200 MB of storage plus another 500 MB for the higher-quality audio files. The Steam store page dates the album to Feb 12, 2021; the actual Steam music release was, according to the developer, added in March 2021.
