Buy cheap Rule the Waves 3: Expanded Battles key

Rule the Waves 3: Expanded Battles is the separately sold expansion for the historical naval strategy simulation. Instead of first building up a years-long fleet campaign, you can jump straight into naval battles with freely chosen nations, eras, fleet sizes and weather conditions using the Quick Battles mode. The DLC requires the PC base game Rule the Waves 3.

Historical battles and alternative scenarios

The expansion includes six historical and two hypothetical battles, including the Battle of Dogger Bank in 1915, the Battle of the Denmark Strait in 1941, fights around Guadalcanal, and a fictional NATO versus Soviet Union clash in the Mediterranean in 1970. This lets you try both historical starting positions and unusual technology duels.

Design your own ships and naval battles

With the expanded ship design and scenario editor, you put together your own task forces. You set operational areas, waypoints, aircraft and AI orders, and can share designs with other players. Lopsided confrontations are also possible, such as early cruisers against modern guided-missile ships. The focus is on tactical single battles and free design, while the long fleet campaign remains part of the main game.

Release and requirements

Expanded Battles came out on Mar 19, 2026 for Windows PC via Steam and the developer’s store. The expansion is a real DLC with its own Steam app, not a standalone base game. The Rule the Waves 3 Complete bundle includes both the main game and the expansion. According to Steam, the interface is available in English.
