VASARA Collection: Samurai under a hail of bullets
The VASARA Collection brings together the two Japanese arcade shoot ’em ups VASARA from 2000 and VASARA 2 from 2001. In an alternate history of Japan around 1600, samurai on flying motorbikes face futuristic war machines, heavily armed soldiers and massive bosses. The action scrolls vertically across the screen: anyone who relies only on autofire quickly gets caught in the densely packed bullets. Targeted melee attacks and good dodging are just as important.
Two arcade classics, different paths
The collection contains the original games with branching routes, different endings and an easier difficulty level for beginners. In Tate mode, the image can be displayed as on an upright arcade cabinet. Both games focus on fast reactions, replayable runs and improving your own score.
PlayStation Vita: the portable version
The standalone PS Vita version was released on Aug 13, 2019. It offers the two classic 2D games with optional modern convenience features and supports vertical Tate mode. Local co-op for two players is even possible via PlayStation TV. Unlike the PS4 version, the specially developed 3D mode Timeless for four players is missing here. The Vita version therefore remains mainly a portable adaptation of the original arcade experience.
