Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 puts you in the shoes of Sergeant Matt Baker of the 101st US Airborne Division in Normandy in 1944. After the night drop ahead of the Allied landing, Baker’s scattered unit must secure routes, retake villages and regroup surviving comrades. The scenes and tactical sequences are based on historical material on Operation Overlord.
Tactical combat in World War II
You lead several small squads across the first-person shooter battlefield. The fire team pins enemies down with suppressive fire while you flank with the assault team. Without the right positioning and coordination, even experienced players struggle to move forward. Relationships between soldiers and the strain of war also play a major role in the story campaign.
PlayStation 2 version
The native PlayStation 2 port came out in March 2005 and adapted graphics, controls and presentation to the console’s hardware. Team play with commands for suppressing fire and flanking attacks remains the core of the game. The German PS2 release received no USK age rating and is rated 18 and over.
