Sumatra: Fate of Yandi is a narrative point-and-click adventure that takes you to the rainforest of the Indonesian island of Sumatra. After a devastating landslide, timber worker Yandi loses his bearings. He searches for his missing friend and colleague Ramdan and wants to return to his partner Adiratna – knowing that an unresolved argument still stands between them.
Puzzles, encounters and secrets in the jungle
On his way through dense rainforest and remote areas, Yandi explores locations, talks to unusual people, encounters wild animals and solves classic adventure puzzles. The story draws on Indonesia’s nature, culture and legends, while the deliberately reduced pixel graphics recall the point-and-click games of the 1990s. Instead of open combat, the focus is on exploration, clues and the personal journey.
Length and gameplay feel
The single-player adventure lasts roughly three to five hours according to the developer. A specially composed musical accompaniment with 30 pieces underscores the journey through the jungle. The story can be experienced on its own; the separately offered digital Collector’s Edition extra with artbook, soundtrack and short game is not required for the main story.
PlayStation 4 version
The native PS4 version was released in March 2021 and is offered together with a separate PS5 version through the same PlayStation Store digital purchase. On-screen text is available in German, English, French and Spanish. Ratalaika Games is responsible for the PlayStation release.
