Wings of Bluestar is a hand-drawn horizontal arcade shoot ’em up by Shinu Real Arts. Rookie pilot Aya and battle-hardened Zarak fight in different spaceships against the remnants of a dangerous artificial intelligence.
Eight stages and a branching story
Race through eight stages filled with dense bullet hell barrages, upgrade various weapons and defeat huge end bosses. Between battles you get to know the characters through dialogue-based scenes: decisions affect the story and possible endings. Boss rush, training mode, gallery and sound test offer additional challenges and unlockable extras.
Together in the living room
Besides the solo mode, local co-op for two players is available. Each spaceship has its own movement behavior, different weaponry and its own scoring system. Hand-painted 2D sprites give it a distinctive retro look.
PlayStation 4: This native PS4 version was released on the European PlayStation Store on Jan 17, 2023. The cross-buy license also includes the standalone PS5 version.
