Genopanic: Mutant hunt on an abandoned space station
In Genopanic you explore the Simbirsk research center as a small astronaut, where genetic experiments have spiraled out of control. Between contaminated labs, dark maintenance shafts and technical facilities, mutated creatures, boss enemies and clues about what happened to the crew lie hidden. The game combines a colorful pixel art style with a partly eerie science fiction mood.
Tools, puzzles and four possible endings
You use a plasma cutter, flamethrower, energy blade and gravity gun to hold your own against enemies and get around obstacles. Along the way you find data disks, which can be used to upgrade equipment and movement abilities. The virtual dog LAIK and the willful AI VOLGA accompany you. Secret passages reward exploring areas you have already visited. Some decisions affect which of the four possible endings you reach.
Genopanic is a 2D action adventure in Metroidvania style with individual difficult jumping sections. It focuses on one connected station, boss fights and branching story moments instead of separate action levels. It was developed by Mobirate.
Genopanic on PlayStation 5
The native PS5 version was released in Germany on May 14, 2025. The PlayStation Store lists one player, offline play and DualSense vibration support. On-screen text is available in 14 languages, including German, English, French, Italian and Japanese. The store only lists a PS5 version; a separate PS4 installation is not listed as a product there.
The puzzles, boss fights and multiple story endings belong to the full game. The free PC introduction Genopanic: Prologue is not offered as a separate edition on PlayStation. The PS5 purchase is unlocked via PlayStation Network, not via a Steam key.
