Shoot 1UP turns the usual rule of classic shoot-’em-ups on its head: a collected extra life does not simply land on a counter, but immediately sends another armed spaceship into battle. This creates a growing fleet that you steer as a single formation through waves of enemy attacks. Up to 30 ships fire at alien enemies and powerful bosses at the same time. In local two-player mode, up to 60 ships can even be on screen at once.
The original Xbox 360 indie game
The Xbox 360 version of Shoot 1UP was released as a download via the former Xbox Live Indie Games channel on Feb 25, 2010. Developer Mommy’s Best Games confirmed an update in May 2010 with more accessible input options such as one-button controls and quick start. The original focuses on growing spaceship formations, intense firefights and local co-op play.
No longer available as a regular purchase
The former Xbox Live Indie Games marketplace was shut down in 2017. This is why this historic Xbox 360 release is no longer regularly available on the Microsoft Store and is listed here as discontinued. The Xbox One remaster Shoot 1UP DX, released in 2020, is a separate native version with two additional levels and more enemies. Xbox Series compatibility of this newer version is not a re-release of the old Xbox 360 indie game product.
