Before We Leave is a peaceful building and management game in which the small Peeps, after many generations underground, build a new home. Settlements made up of houses, fields, workshops and research facilities are built on hexagonal tiles. The inhabitants must gather food and building materials, meet their needs and cope with the consequences of growing production.
From the first village to outer space
As you progress, you research new technologies and transport goods between islands, continents and eventually planets. Each of the six landscape zones has its own requirements for resources and logistics. Trade routes by water and in space keep supplies running smoothly. A clean environment, working production chains and the Peeps’ contentment are especially important.
Exploring without a war of conquest
Instead of armies or wars against other civilisations, Before We Leave focuses on planning, exploration and the careful growth of a society. Ancient alien creatures and other environmental hazards can still challenge your settlements. The game is designed for one player and has no competitive multiplayer mode.
The Xbox One version
Before We Leave came out for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in November 2021. Microsoft lists both native console generations under one shared store product. This entry describes the Xbox One version; the Xbox Series version has a separate platform page. Alongside the familiar building systems, it offers a single-player experience without a military conquest campaign.
