Abiotic Factor

Abiotic Factor is a survival game for up to six players, set in an underground research facility. After a catastrophic incident, alien beings, security robots and armed attackers enter the corridors. Scientists must improvise equipment, find food and work together to find a way through the facility.

Instead of soldiers, the characters start as researchers with different specialties. From found materials, they craft unusual tools, weapons and machines.

Abiotic Factor released on July 22, 2025 for Windows PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The PC version had been playable in Early Access since May 2, 2024.

The versions for the two current consoles were added with the full release.

Abiotic Factor is natively available for Windows PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Up to six scientists can play together across platform boundaries.

On PC, you can choose single-player, online co-op and LAN co-op.

Abiotic Factor combines exploration, survival needs and self-built equipment. Offices supply furniture and supplies, while labs hold technology and unusual finds. New devices help you reach further areas of the facility.

Alien beings, armed enemies and automated security systems make the way through the facility harder.

Temple of Stone is an expansion for Abiotic Factor and was released on Nov 3, 2025. The separately available Supporter's Pack includes additional cosmetic content.

Entropic Break, another extensive add-on centered on the GATE Leaf Test Facility, has been announced. It is set to release in Q1 2027 and add new areas and portal worlds.

Abiotic Factor requires at least Windows 10 64-bit, 8 GB RAM and 10 GB of free storage. For the processor, Steam lists an Intel Core i5 of the 9th generation or a comparable model. For the graphics card, at least a GeForce GTX 1660 or Radeon RX 5600 XT is required.

16 GB RAM, an 11th-gen Intel Core i5 and a GeForce RTX 3070 or Radeon RX 6700 XT are recommended. Higher processor requirements may apply for hosting larger multiplayer sessions.

Scientists build safe bases from emptied offices and labs. Furniture, workbenches and supplies help prepare longer expeditions through the GATE facility.

With transport carts, forklifts, off-road vehicles and teleporters, you can also move equipment to other parts of the research facility.

In Abiotic Factor, ordinary finds become tools, protective clothing and weapons. The equipment ranges from simple melee weapons and nets to electronic devices, laser weapons and traps.

New blueprints open up more options. Against dangerous enemies, a prepared trap can be more useful than a direct fight.

Each scientist starts with a professional focus and individual traits. Botanical research, defense and technical fields each offer different strengths.

Characters' skills grow over time. As a team, you can split tasks between crafting, supplies and exploration.

The research facility contains portals to alien dimensions. Expeditions lead from the underground offices into unusual environments with their own dangers and resources.

New technologies also open additional paths within the GATE facility. Exploration and crafting are thereby intertwined.

Up to six players can play Abiotic Factor together. This cooperative survival game supports crossplay between PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

You can also explore the research facility alone. On PC, local network games are supported alongside online co-op.

In the GATE facility, scientists encounter alien creatures, armed soldiers and robots. The threats differ in behavior and equipment.

Self-built traps, protective clothing and teamwork can help you avoid or prepare for some encounters.

Deep Field Games plans official mod support with Community Update 5. A free editor for Windows will, among other things, allow custom items, recipes, enemies and companions. On PC and consoles, a mod browser accessible directly in the game is planned.

Entirely new levels and portal worlds cannot yet be created with the first version of the editor.

Abiotic Factor offers German on-screen text and subtitles. The voice output is in English.

Other supported text languages include French, Japanese, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese and two Chinese variants.
