Release
AION 2 launched on Nov 19, 2025 initially in Korea and Taiwan. For buyers of a Founder's Pack, global PC early access began on Sep 30, 2026. Since Oct 5, 2026, the global PC version has been available for free via Steam and PURPLE.

Platforms
The global version is available on Windows PC via Steam and NC's PURPLE launcher. Separate native iOS and Android versions have existed since the regional launch in Korea and Taiwan; worldwide mobile availability is therefore not confirmed.

Gameplay
AION 2 features active third-person combat, open exploration, and PvE and PvP content. A core feature of the series returns in an expanded form: characters can explore Atreia not only on the ground but also freely in the air, and fight there. There are also dungeons, boss battles, character customization, crafting and trading.

For the global PC version, Steam lists at least Windows 10/11 (64-bit), Ryzen 5 2600 or Core i5-10500, 8 GB RAM and a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with 4 GB. Recommended are Ryzen 7 3700X or Core i7-11700, 16 GB RAM and a GeForce RTX 2070 with 8 GB. Around 100 GB of storage is needed; an SSD is recommended.

Factions and servers
In the global version, each server hosts only one of the two factions: Elyos or Asmodians. For shared PvP zones such as the Abyss, servers of the two sides are paired. NC has announced that these pairings may be adjusted if needed.

Flying and exploration
Free movement through the air is a core feature of AION 2. NC explicitly describes the world as explorable over land, water and air; flight serves not only for travel but is also part of combat and vertical exploration.
