What is AKIBA LOST?

AKIBA LOST is an interactive crime adventure with real actors. The story is told from seven perspectives. Choices, filmed scenes and freely explorable 360-degree views intertwine as an old missing persons case repeats itself in Akihabara, a district of Tokyo.

Instead of combat or a freely explorable open world, the focus is on branching storylines and piecing together different perspectives.

Gameplay

The game switches between live-action sequences, still images, dialogue and choices. A scene doesn't have to continue from the same character's point of view. Players switch perspectives to understand events happening at the same time and to find new information.

The story spans seven days. Previously locked paths can become accessible through the experiences of other characters.

DLCs and expansions

AKIBA LOST has a separately sold original soundtrack and an additional drama film. On Steam, both are available individually and are included with the main game in the Digital Deluxe Edition.

The extras should be kept separate from the mystery adventure itself. Collector's editions for consoles also don't change the core game.

The story of the missing persons case

Daiki Shinjo wants to make a video game about the disappearance of six girls in Akihabara. The unsolved incidents happened thirteen years ago. His younger sister Ruri was also among the missing.

When Shinjo publicly announces his project, people disappear again. A threat orders him to stop work. His sister Aoi is immediately drawn into the events, while Shinjo's fictional story increasingly collides with the present.

Branching choices and locked paths

A character's choices can change the course of another character's story. This means the seven perspectives affect each other. If you get stuck in one storyline, you can set up a requirement elsewhere and come back later.

These connections are central to the investigations and affect the possible endings of the story.

360-degree camera and live-action footage

In selected scenes, the camera can rotate 360 degrees. This lets players view rooms from a character's perspective, while other sections play as filmed sequences or image sequences.

The controls are based on an interactive film and a narrative adventure, not on free movement through a three-dimensional city.

Characters and their roles

Daiki Shinjo and six women make up the seven playable perspectives. They include his sister Aoi, who runs a maid café, streamer Yukimi Kurahashi, food writer Moe Kurosu and underground idol singer Kokone Nagato.

Shrine maiden Chihiro Jimbo and cosplayer Wakana Yusa also bring their own experiences and clues into the story. The characters show different sides of the Akihabara district.
