What is Bodycam?

Bodycam is a tactical multiplayer shooter from Reissad Studio that stages firefights from the heavily distorted perspective of a body-worn camera. The game uses Unreal Engine 5 and focuses on short sightlines, harsh contrasts, reduced on-screen information and photorealistic maps.

The focus is on competitive online matches. The unusual camera view is more than a filter: orientation, angles, sounds and communication with the team play a much bigger role than in classic arena shooters.

Release

2 years agoSource: Steam

Bodycam launched in Steam Early Access on June 7, 2024. Since then, Reissad Studio has continued developing the shooter together with the community, adding larger systems, maps, weapons and technical improvements through extensive updates.

No date for version 1.0 has been set yet. The Early Access description cites a development period of several years as a realistic possibility and makes completion dependent on the planned core features and their quality.

Gameplay

Bodycam focuses on fast tactical firefights from a first-person perspective. Its core PvP modes include Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Wingman. Positioning, team communication and the controlled use of sightlines are meant to decide matches, especially in tight indoor spaces and on winding maps.

Weapons can be extensively customised. In addition, there are physics-based movement and animation systems and tactical tools that Reissad Studio is expanding through larger updates. Alongside the competitive modes, Bodycam also features cooperative content.

Zombies mode

Alongside PvP, Bodycam has a cooperative Zombies mode. Players team up against waves of enemies, unlock new areas and manage their resources between attacks. The mode is a permanent pillar of the game and not a time-limited event.

Locked & Loaded and the new loadout system

With the major update v0.8 “Locked & Loaded”, Reissad Studio permanently reworked several fundamental systems in September 2026. These include a much more extensive loadout and weapon customisation system, rebuilt weapon animations and reload sequences, and a reworked user interface around the tactical tablet.

The update also expands tactical options with remote-controlled drones and RC vehicles and adds new map and progression building blocks. As a result, Locked & Loaded changes not just individual balance values but the long-term structure of equipment, controls and competitive modes.
