What is Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles?

Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles is an experimental sandbox building game by solo developer Tomas Sala, set in the Great Ursee, the world of The Falconeer. Instead of classic grids, you build fortresses, towers, walls and trade networks directly into a rugged island world. Factions, diplomacy and conflicts develop from the growth of your settlements.

Gameplay

The core consists of freely placed towers, walls and trade routes. Resources are not managed as a classic stockpile but transported via ranges and networks. As the population grows, factions unlock new captains, units and abilities. Besides the standard Bulwark mode, there is a conflict-free Freebuild mode and Total Conquest with permanent war.

Colossal Update: Ships, wars and new building options

The major 2026 update permanently expands several core systems. Surveyors can be upgraded, including the heavily armed Behemoth. Walls can be curved freely, trade ships on their own routes can be steered directly, and wars react more dynamically with defenders, patrols, blockades and new formations. Arbology Towers also bring trees back to the Ursee settlements.

Game series

Like The Falconeer, Bulwark is set in the Great Ursee and expands the world from a different angle: instead of air combat, the focus is on designing and politically developing your own settlements. Tomas Sala and Wired Productions continue to develop this universe across several projects.
