The PC version came out on Aug 11, 2021. Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S followed on Aug 12, 2021. For PlayStation, versions exist for PS4 and PS5; the current PlayStation Store lists the PS4/PS5 entry with the date May 2, 2022.

Gameplay

The gameplay runs from diagnosis and part inspection through disassembly, repair and replacement to painting, tuning and test drives. The base game includes more than 4,000 different parts and over 70 vehicles.

In addition there are randomly generated jobs, story missions, auctions, barn finds, junkyard searches, a race track with time trials, and a skills and garage upgrade system. Other permanent systems are fluids, fuse boxes, a brake disc lathe and extended bodywork.

DLCs and expansions

Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 was expanded after launch with numerous vehicle and brand packs. Nissan and Electric Car content already arrived at launch, among others; further DLCs add additional vehicles and engine variants.

The expansions build on the same workshop and restoration system and do not change the basic structure of the base game.
