CarX Drift Racing Online

CarX Drift Racing Online is a racing simulator focused on controlled oversteer rather than classic lap wins. On city and mountain tracks and in arenas, you try to drive corners as cleanly as possible at an angle. Speed, angle and vehicle setup decide the outcome. The title focuses on free driving, training and competitions rather than a linear campaign.

CarX Drift Racing Online was released for PC on Nov 17, 2017. Later, separate releases followed for PlayStation 4 on Dec 11, 2019, Xbox One on Sep 9, 2020, and Nintendo Switch on June 24, 2021.

CarX Drift Racing Online is natively available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. On PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the respective older console version may be playable via backward compatibility. This is not a separate PS5 or Xbox Series version. Scope and control options differ between versions.

When drifting, the driver holds the car sideways to the direction of travel through the bend. Throttle, counter-steering and the handbrake affect the angle. The physics-based controls respond to different driving aids and setups. Beginners can start with a controller or keyboard, while steering wheels allow finer corrections.

The Steam version includes additional drift tracks, vehicles and cosmetic content. “Japan Fest” adds a mountain track, “American Ways” an American race course. Vehicle, style and tuning packs are also offered. The “Complete Edition” combines the base game, Deluxe pack and Season Pass, but is not a separate game.

On Windows, CarX Drift Racing Online requires at least 8 GB RAM and 8 GB storage. Steam lists an Intel Core i5-6400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 as processors, and a GeForce GTX 960 with 4 GB or Radeon RX 470 with 4 GB as graphics cards. The recommended configuration calls for 16 GB RAM and a more powerful graphics card. An internet connection is required for multiplayer.

The cars can be set up for different drifting styles. Suspension, tires, engine, gearing and body changes affect both handling and looks. On PC, more than 120 vehicles are available. The Switch version includes more than 70 vehicles and numerous tuning kits and parts.

In online multiplayer, up to 16 drivers race together. Your own rooms are suited to free driving and tandem drifts with friends. On PC there are also TOP 32 competitions with head-to-head duels. Steam supports cross-platform matches. Which features are available on which console depends on the respective version.

On PC, community tracks add to the official drift courses. Players can get extra maps via the Steam Workshop and use the editor to create new tracks themselves. The core game includes city streets, mountain passes and race tracks with different corner radii.

On PC, CarX Drift Racing Online supports controllers, keyboards, steering wheels and VR. Driving aids make your first controlled drifts easier. The VR feature and Workshop integration are PC features and should not be confused with the options of the console versions.

On Nintendo Switch, CarX Drift Racing Online can be played in handheld, tabletop and TV mode. The version supports the Pro Controller and online rooms with up to 16 players. Online multiplayer requires Nintendo Switch Online. Controls and the vehicle lineup are adapted to the console.
