Cat Quest II

Cat Quest II is an action role-playing game about two exiled rulers: a cat king from Felingard and a dog king from the Lupus Empire. While their lands are at war, both must fight together to win back their thrones. The open, colorful world combines real-time combat, equipment and short quest chains.

Cat Quest II was released for PC on Sep 24, 2019. The PS4 version followed in Europe on Oct 23, 2019, and Nintendo Switch and Xbox One on Oct 24, 2019. The adventure also came out on Apple Arcade in 2019. The Android version is now available as a standalone app.

Cat Quest II is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, iOS and Android. On PC, the Steam version supports Windows and macOS. The PS4 version can be played on PS5 via backward compatibility, and the Xbox One version on Xbox Series X|S. This does not create a separate new PS5 or Xbox Series version.

The smartphone apps are sold separately. The Android version does not automatically include the features of the console version, especially local co-op.

The two main characters move freely across an overworld map, enter dungeons and complete main and side quests. Battles take place directly in the game world: dodge attacks, hit enemies with melee weapons or cast spells. Equipment you find changes stats and combat style.

The characters have separate equipment. If you play alone, you can switch between cat and dog and combine different weapons and spells.

The free Mew World update from Aug 8, 2020 added the Mew Game mode to Cat Quest II. After finishing the story, players can choose special rules, such as no equipment or no magic. It also brought new enemies, sprinting, reworked inventory screens and additional combat abilities.

Mew World is part of the game and not a separate adventure to buy. The Pawsome Pack includes Cat Quest and Cat Quest II as two standalone games.

On Windows, Steam lists a minimum of an Intel Core i3-2100, 4 GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 520 and 600 MB of free storage. A Core i7-7500U and 8 GB RAM are recommended. A separate version is available for macOS, for which Steam lists separate current minimum requirements.

On PC and consoles, two people can play together. One controls the cat, the other the dog. Both explore the same world and fight battles together. In single-player, the AI takes over the second character, and you can still switch between the two.

The co-op mode is local only. The game does not advertise regular online co-op.

The adventure leads from the cat kingdom of Felingard into the neighboring dog realm. Villages, caves, castles and remote areas contain quests with their own characters and rewards. Many dungeons can be explored away from the main story once your gear and experience are strong enough for tougher enemies.

Swords, staves and other weapon types offer different reach and attack styles. Magic complements direct combat, while passive effects on equipment open up new combinations. Weapons and armor can be upgraded, so early-found items stay useful for longer.

The PC version offers German on-screen text. The PS4 version also lists German as an on-screen language. Which languages are included depends on the specific platform version.
