What is Citizen Sleeper?

Citizen Sleeper is a science fiction RPG by Jump Over the Age. The player character is a digitized human consciousness in an artificial body. After fleeing the company that owns this body, an uncertain life begins on the Erlin's Eye space station.

Instead of real-time combat, dice actions, conversations and decisions shape the adventure. The people on the station have their own stories, interests and problems. Helping them also changes what your character can do.

Gameplay

Each day on Erlin's Eye starts with a limited selection of dice. They are used to do jobs, explore new places or help residents. The die roll determines the chance of success.

Many plans take several cycles. The available dice must therefore be split between a safe source of income, looking after the body and building new relationships.

Work, supplies and physical condition

The player character depends on resources to keep their artificial body working. Regular work secures money and supplies, but costs time that is missing for other goals.

The state of the body is closely tied to everyday decisions. Poor planning can limit future options, while stable relationships open up new paths.

Stories and relationships

Technicians, traders, hackers, workers and people who earn their living on the edge of interstellar society live on the space station. Following their stories tells you more about the station and its economic everyday life.

Helpfulness and trust can open up new jobs or allies. The plot does not always require choosing between clearly good or bad answers.

Hacking and hidden information

As a digital consciousness, the player character can explore the station's data networks. There you can uncover secrets, new connections and information about powerful players.

These abilities supplement ordinary work and conversations. Some problems can therefore be solved through knowledge or a new relationship instead of confrontation.

The episodes FLUX, REFUGE and PURGE

FLUX, REFUGE and PURGE form an additional story arc that came out after the original release. The three episodes expand Citizen Sleeper with characters, stories and more locations on Erlin's Eye.

Today they are part of the base game. The digital artbook and soundtrack, by contrast, are separate add-on products.

The story: self-determination and belonging

At the centre is a character whose body belongs to a company, but whose decisions become increasingly self-determined. On Erlin's Eye, she meets people who live under similar economic pressures.

The story is therefore about work, ownership, friendships and whom you trust in a difficult situation. How the relationships develop depends on your own priorities.
