Danganronpa 2x2

Danganronpa 2x2 is the official Western title of the game marketed in Japan as SUPER DANGANRONPA 2×2. Spike Chunsoft returns to Jabberwock Island and combines two complete variants of the same starting situation.

The Original Mode retells the story of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair with revised presentation for current systems. Slayhem Mode uses the same setting and characters, but fundamentally changes victims, culprits, tricks and the course of the Killing Game.

Danganronpa 2x2 releases on Jan 14, 2027.

Confirmed versions are for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

Danganronpa 2x2 remains a visual novel and adventure game centred on investigations and class trials. After a murder, players gather testimony and evidence and must expose contradictions in the trial to identify the culprit.

The game contains two variants of the same starting situation. The Original Mode retells Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair with revised presentation. Slayhem Mode starts with the same characters and setting, but develops from there a different series of murders with different victims, culprits and tricks. Spike Chunsoft puts Slayhem's content at around 20% more than the Original Mode.

Slayhem Mode is the new alternative story of Danganronpa 2x2. According to Spike Chunsoft, it can be selected from the start, although the publisher recommends first getting to know the Original Mode for context.

The new characters include Sakutaro Higashi, a student who gets drawn into the Slayhem class trials. His "Ultimate" talent remains secret for now. In the Japanese version Natsuki Hanae voices the role, in the English version Griffin Burns.

Navigation on Jabberwock Island has been rebuilt for Danganronpa 2x2. Instead of the original's side-scrolling map, there is a freely explorable 3D world map. Alternatively, familiar destinations can be reached directly via fast travel. The map can also be viewed from a first-person perspective.
