Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition

Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition is the revised version of the action RPG with Death as the main character. The Horseman of the Apocalypse fights to take the load off his brother War. The edition combines the main game with the original expansions and reworks graphics, equipment and game balance.

Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition was released on Oct 27, 2015 for PS4 and Xbox One, on Nov 5, 2015 for PC and on Sep 26, 2019 for Nintendo Switch. The technically improved version for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S launched on Oct 15, 2024. The physical versions for these two platforms followed on Jan 28, 2025.

The game has standalone versions for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. On PS5 and Xbox Series, it offers additional graphics and performance improvements. Owners of the digital PS4 version receive the PS5 version as a free upgrade. A Stadia version came out in 2021, and the cloud service was discontinued later.

Darksiders II combines fast melee combat with platforming sections, exploration and puzzles. In large areas and dungeons, you unlock new paths, collect equipment and complete tasks away from the main storyline. Movement relies on Death's acrobatic abilities.

All major expansions of the original Darksiders II are included. These include Argul’s Tomb, The Abyssal Forge and The Demon Lord Belial, as well as additional armour, weapons and mount content. The extra content is built into the revised game balance.

For the PC version, Steam lists a minimum of a dual-core processor at 2.0 GHz, 4 GB RAM and a GeForce 9800 GT graphics card with 512 MB. A quad-core processor and 8 GB RAM are recommended. Around 13 GB of storage space is required. The current Steam client requires Windows 10 or later.

Death sets out to prove the innocence of his brother War and to save humanity. In doing so, he gets caught in a conflict between ancient powers, whose effects reach far beyond Earth. The plot expands on the events of the first Darksiders.

Death wields scythes and various other melee weapons. Fast attack combos, dodge manoeuvres and active abilities define the combat style. Tougher enemies require a smart switch between movement, attack and defence.

Experience points, skill trees, weapons and armour pieces allow different character builds. The Deathinitive Edition has adjusted loot distribution and balance, so new finds and character development work together.

In temples, ruins and other areas, combat is combined with climbing sections and environmental puzzles. Additional dungeons, hidden equipment and side quests add to the main story.

The Deathinitive Edition reworks characters and environments, lighting and shadows, as well as the technical foundation. On the first remaster platforms, the focus is on 1080p visuals. Loot distribution and balance have also been adjusted.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions offer 4K visuals, up to 60 frames per second, ray tracing and shorter loading times. On PS5, the game also supports haptic feedback from the DualSense controller.

Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition is a single-player adventure. The story, dungeons and character development are built around Death as the main character. There is no local or online co-op mode.

The PC version includes German and English text, subtitles and voice acting. Other languages include French, Italian, Spanish and Russian. The offer for individual console stores may vary by region.
