What is Deep Dish Dungeon?

Deep Dish Dungeon is an exploration and survival adventure set in a hand-built dungeon. Instead of working through a randomly generated sequence of arenas, players are meant to uncover fixed paths, branches, puzzles and hidden connections. Collected resources go into tools, meals and upgrades for a camp, which serves as the base for further expeditions. The developers describe the game explicitly as an adventure that does not constantly explain its hints and relies on careful observation.

A hand-built labyrinth full of branches

According to Behold Studios, the dungeon consists of deliberately designed rooms and passages. Players examine walls, doors and clues, find treasures and open up previously inaccessible areas with newly crafted tools. Exploration combines Metroidvania elements with survival systems without tying progress solely to combat. Patience and recognising connections are part of the concept.

Tools from found materials

Resources collected on the way can be processed into new equipment. Crafting tools not only prepares you for battle but can also open new paths and make the next expedition easier. Trips into the dungeon and upgrading your own camp are therefore linked. Which recipes you can craft at the start depends on the ingredients you find and the areas you explore.

Cooking as a lasting progress mechanic

In Deep Dish Dungeon, food is not only a consumable for immediate healing. Discovered recipes are meant to affect different stats and open up additional options for later expeditions. At the campfire, the group cooks meals, organises its supplies and plans the next route. Recipes are unlocked as you explore further, so collected ingredients provide their own form of progress.

Dangers, puzzles and hidden treasures

The various enemies in the dungeon are meant to have their own behaviours, which can be observed and exploited with suitable tools. Hidden rooms, valuable finds and environmental puzzles complement the battles. The studio stresses a deliberately sparing use of hints: if you stand in front of a locked door, you often have to revisit paths and previously overlooked details instead of following a constant quest marker.

Solo or co-op with up to three

The game can be explored solo or in online co-op with up to two other players. Behold Studios describes multiplayer as working together to discover, share knowledge and look after the group. Competition or separate task roles are not a required core principle. The Steam page also lists cross-platform multiplayer as a feature; the exact combinations of stores and consoles supported are not fully documented before launch.
