DREDGE: The Pale Reach

The Pale Reach is the first expansion for DREDGE by Black Salt Games. This paid add-on chapter leads into a new ice area south of the known waters. A side story about a vanished expedition, eleven new catch types and additional equipment complement the existing campaign.

The DLC requires the base game, but you can explore it during an ongoing trip. The tools it introduces also partly affect fishing trips outside the ice area.

The expansion released on Nov 16, 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. Following the mobile DREDGE release on Feb 27, 2025, The Pale Reach is also available on iOS and Android as an in-app expansion.

The content is available for PC (Windows and macOS), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android. The matching platform version of the base game is required. The mobile versions allow purchases within the main app. A standalone native Switch 2 version has not been announced.

The Pale Reach expands the fishing boat voyage with pack ice, narrow channels and new fishing spots. Players follow the traces of a lost crew, explore the new area and collect materials for special boat equipment. The existing game system of fishing, upgrading and careful navigation remains intact.

The add-on chapter includes a standalone side story with roughly one to three hours of playtime. It includes eleven new fish and crab species, four pieces of equipment and eight achievements. The Pale Reach is separate from the other DREDGE content, The Iron Rig and Blackstone Key. Each DLC requires the base game.

On PC, The Pale Reach requires DREDGE. Steam lists at least Windows 10 for Windows, a Core i3-2100 or Phenom II X4 965, 4 GB RAM and a GeForce 8800 GT or Radeon HD 6570. The stated storage requirement is 2 GB. The Mac version supports macOS Big Sur 11.4 or later.

Eleven new fish and crab species expand the catch catalog. Four pieces of equipment expand your options at sea. A new boat attachment breaks through ice barriers, while ice blocks keep valuable catches fresh for longer. These additions can also be useful beyond the new region.

The additional region tells a side story about an earlier expedition. New waterways and ice fields complement the open sea.

Since Feb 2025, The Pale Reach can be unlocked within the mobile DREDGE app for iOS and Android. The app supports touch controls and controllers.
