EA SPORTS Madden NFL 27 is an American football simulation with the licensed teams and players of the NFL. You take control on the field, lead a team over multiple seasons or develop your own pro.

The modes range from quick single games through extensive team management in Franchise mode to Superstar and Madden Ultimate Team. NFL quarterback Caleb Williams of the Chicago Bears is on the cover.

Released Aug 13, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. The four platform versions launched on the same day as scheduled.

Certain editions and a membership already allowed an earlier start on Aug 10 and Aug 6 respectively. These early access options are not separate releases of the main game.

Madden NFL 27 runs natively on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. On PC, the game is available via EA app, Steam and Epic Games Store. A version for PS4, Xbox One or the original Nintendo Switch is not among the confirmed releases.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version offers handheld, tabletop and TV modes, touchscreen support and online play. Cross-platform matches are only confirmed between PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Switch 2 version is not part of this crossplay group.

Madden NFL 27 expands the direct duels between receivers and defenders. Players can fight for position, run short running plays more precisely and catch contested passes with timing-based inputs.

Before the snap, formations and coverage assignments can be adjusted more precisely. The defense gets additional options to respond to short passes, deep routes or a quarterback outside the pocket. This includes, among other things, smart zone coverage and switching from zone to man coverage on extended plays.

On PC, Madden NFL 27 requires Windows 11, at least 12 GB RAM and 50 GB of free storage. The listed processors are a Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i3-10300. The minimum graphics card is a Radeon RX 5600 XT, GeForce RTX 2060 or Intel Arc A580.

Recommended are 16 GB RAM, a Ryzen 7 3700X or Core i7-10700, and a RX 6700 XT, RTX 3060 Ti or Arc B580. DirectX 12 and an internet connection are among the requirements.

In Franchise mode, you manage rosters, coaching staff, contracts and the development of an NFL team. New is the Persona Engine: players have individual expectations and react during negotiations to their role on the team, the terms offered and other interested parties.

The transfer market relies on multiple teams making offers at the same time. Contract negotiations let you set term, salary and bonus. In addition, coach development and weekly decisions shape how a long season plays out.

Superstar takes a custom player through a football career, up to a possible induction into the Hall of Fame. The G.O.A.T. career path combines on-field performance with decisions and unlockable abilities.

Alongside familiar positions, Tight End, Defensive Line and Safety are also available. Your own skill trees and growing fame change the pro's further options.

In Madden Ultimate Team, you build your own team from NFL player cards. With the Evo system, you develop selected players through tasks and upgrade items. Team Captains and customizable progression paths expand how you build your roster.

The mode includes online competitions and in-game purchases. The card and progression system should be distinguished from classic Franchise mode, in which you manage an NFL team.

Crossplay works between PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The feature is available in Online Head-to-Head, Franchise, Madden Ultimate Team and Superstar. In Franchise, it can be enabled in the league settings.

Friends can be added via EA Connect. The Nintendo Switch 2 version supports online play but is not listed for crossplay with these three platforms. A shared save across all systems is not the same as crossplay.

The weather can change during a match. According to EA, rain and the increasingly worn turf affect movement, stamina and ball control. The team strategy must also adapt during a game.

Additional stadium presentations, new pre-game reports and halftime segments are meant to show the character of individual NFL venues more strongly. Examples include the parachute jump in Denver and the zipline in Jacksonville.

The Standard Edition includes the main game. The Deluxe Edition offers additional content for Ultimate Team and Superstar. At launch, it allowed an earlier start to the game.

The MVP Bundle includes Madden NFL 27 and EA SPORTS College Football 27. A temporarily offered MVP+ membership included further benefits. These editions and packages are not separate native platform versions of Madden NFL 27.

Madden NFL 27 Mobile and Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition are standalone games. They are not part of the PC and console release of the main game. The Arcade Edition was released for Apple Arcade, while Madden NFL Mobile is offered as a separate mobile football game.

The differences concern the product, game content and availability. Buying the PC version therefore does not mean buying these mobile versions.
