ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights

ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights is a gloomy 2D action RPG with interconnected areas and challenging battles. The girl Lily explores a kingdom destroyed by the Rain of Death. Redeemed enemies support her in battle with their own abilities.

The PC version left Early Access in June 2021. Steam lists June 21 for the full version, and Nintendo Germany lists June 22 for the Switch version. The Xbox versions released on June 29, 2021, and the PlayStation 4 version on July 20, 2021. Early Access on PC began in January 2021.

ENDER LILIES is natively available for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The Xbox version supports Smart Delivery and offers optimisations for Xbox Series X|S. On PlayStation 5, the PS4 version runs via backward compatibility.

Lily doesn't fight with a weapon of her own. Instead, she calls upon the spirits of freed warriors and other former cursed inhabitants. Their attacks can be combined into a style of combat all your own. Dodging, positioning and reading enemy movements are especially crucial in boss fights.

The full version includes the completed story and the areas added after Early Access. On Steam, an original soundtrack is also offered. It contains music and is not a standalone game expansion.

On PC, the game requires at least a dual-core processor at 2 GHz, 2 GB of memory, a graphics unit with 1 GB of video memory and 2 GB of free storage. A quad-core processor at 2.5 GHz and 4 GB RAM are recommended. Steam lists DirectX 11 and notes that the Steam client now requires Windows 10 or later.

In the former kingdom of Endland, the Death Rain turned people and animals into violent undead. Lily awakens in a church and searches for the origin of the calamity. The traces of the dead and the memories of the freed fighters gradually reveal the fall of the land.

The journey leads through flooded forests, abandoned fortresses and polluted underground facilities. New abilities open up paths that were previously inaccessible. Those who explore carefully discover secrets and relics off the direct route.

Defeated bosses are freed from their curse and expand Lily's options. The fights demand precise timing and switching between different attack types. Some enemies are easier to beat with ranged attacks, others with fast melee attacks.

The freed spirits provide melee attacks, ranged attacks and magic abilities. Lily puts together her own selection from these and can adapt the tools to enemy attacks and new exploration tasks.

Hidden relics change Lily's attributes and complement the selection of spirit abilities. The combination of equipped relics and attacks allows different playstyles without limiting the main character to a fixed character class.

The music comes from the Japanese group Mili. Calm melodies alternate with more intense pieces and shape the melancholic mood of the hand-drawn 2D landscapes.

German is available on PC and consoles as a screen and text language. The Steam version offers German menus and subtitles, but no German voice acting. ENDER LILIES is a single-player game.
