What is EVE Online?

EVE Online is a space MMO whose economy and political power balances are largely shaped by its players. In New Eden, pilots roam more than 7,000 star systems, trade raw materials and spaceships, join corporations or explore dangerous regions.

Instead of a fixed single-player campaign, your own goals shape your day. If you don't want to fight battles, you can focus on industry, trade, transport or exploration.

Gameplay

Players can trade, mine asteroids, produce equipment, fly missions or fight other pilots. Every activity is linked to the shared economic system. Raw materials become ships and modules, and losses in combat create demand for new materials.

When exploring, scanners lead to relics, hidden sites and wormholes. Ships differ by their role and the modules fitted. Choosing your equipment is therefore more important than a fixed character class.

DLCs and expansions

Fractured Skies is released on Nov 10, 2026 and expands faction warfare with four Navy Assault Battlecruisers, new Synchronizer modifications and military campaigns. The combat-focused ships are offered through the Loyalty Point stores of faction warfare. Nine Synchronizer sets boost equipment tailored to a specific faction.

In February 2027, the new Conquests system is set to enable seasonal faction conflicts with a clear winner. It follows Cradle of War, which introduced military campaigns, a beginner-friendly area and more ships in June 2026.

Trade and a player-driven economy

Trade between players is a foundation of EVE Online. Miners supply raw materials, producers build equipment, traders react to regional prices and logistics pilots transport goods. Player organisations can build supply chains and influence their own markets.

Anyone who loses ships or equipment has to source replacements. That is why battles also affect production needs and trade routes.

Faction warfare and military campaigns

In the conflict zones of New Eden, pilots fight for the major empires Amarr, Caldari, Gallente and Minmatar. Military campaigns combine PvP, PvE, exploration and industry with shared faction goals. Players who do not take part in the front-line fighting can also contribute.

Fractured Skies adds new campaigns and equipment to this system. The planned Conquests system is set to give these conflicts a seasonal finale with a clear winner.

Starter region and ships to try

Since Cradle of War, new pilots start in the Exordium area without PvP attacks. There they can try simple missions, mining and exploration before heading to the more dangerous regions of New Eden.

With Fractured Skies, 13 free, pre-fitted AIR academy ships for various activities are set to be added. These training ships may not leave Exordium.

Corporations, alliances and fleets

EVE Online is built for playing together in a persistent online world. Players found corporations, join alliances, run fleet operations or work together in trade and industry. Large battles and territorial claims arise from the decisions of the player community.

You can also do plenty of things alone, such as exploration, market trading or simple PvE missions. There is no offline campaign.
