What is EverQuest Legends?
EverQuest Legends is a standalone reinterpretation of classic EverQuest, developed by Daybreak Games together with the independent studio Game Jawn. The MMORPG keeps Norrath's original look, zones, music and many familiar systems, but tailors them to more flexible solo and small-group play.
Rather than replacing live EverQuest, Legends runs as a separate game with its own timeline and its own development. At launch, the world includes Antonica, Faydwer and Odus, along with classic and additional playable races.

Release
EverQuest Legends was released for PC on Jul 28, 2026. Several beta phases came before it; the regular live service launched at the end of July with Kerran as a playable race and a scalable 4K user interface.
The current roadmap continues expanding the world in 2026. Nektropos Castle and Lake Nerius are planned for October. Rulers of Kunark is due in mid-December and will be the game's first major expansion.

Platforms
EverQuest Legends is currently available only as a PC game and is sold directly through the official EverQuest Legends website. A version for Mac, consoles or mobile devices has not been announced so far.
The game uses its own subscription model. The base purchase includes the first month; continued access then requires a separate EverQuest Legends subscription. Major expansions such as Kunark are sold separately, while smaller zone and content updates may be part of the ongoing service.

Gameplay
The central system of EverQuest Legends is Multiclassing. A character can combine up to three active classes, mixing abilities, stats and roles. Daybreak cites 560 possible class combinations. Equipment can also be upgraded and adapted to your build with different effects.
The content is scaled so the world can in principle also be experienced solo. Players who play together can form groups of up to four players and raids of up to eight players. The approach combines the classic EverQuest structure with shorter, more flexible play sessions and modern quality-of-life features.

DLCs and expansions
The live service deliberately does not follow the historical EverQuest roadmap exactly for Norrath. In October 2026, Nektropos Castle and Lake Nerius are planned; Nektropos also brings a new starting zone and a new playable race.
Rulers of Kunark is due to release in mid-December. The expansion shows Kunark in an alternative timeline, in which the powers there are still fighting for supremacy. Planned are a level cap of 55, the Reincarnation system for levelling up again with lasting progress, Aliases, Collections, Artes and Auction Houses.
For 2027, Game Jawn announces more Kunark areas, an additional playable race, two more Kunark raids, the high-level zone Rujarkian Hills and a later major expansion based on Velious.

Game series
EverQuest Legends is part of the EverQuest series, but it is neither a classic progression server nor an expansion of the original EverQuest. The game uses Norrath, well-known races, zones and the classic visual identity as the basis for its own variant of the universe.
This split is especially clear with Rulers of Kunark: rather than simply rebuilding the historical Kunark expansion, Legends tells an alternative version of the region. Later content is also meant to reinterpret well-known locations and motifs while opening up previously inaccessible parts of Norrath.
