Gameplay

The simulation covers swimming, spinning, bottom and trolling fishing. Rods, reels, lines, hooks and baits interact with water currents, weather and time of day. Different fish species react to the conditions and require different methods for bites and fighting.

The game includes freshwater and sea fishing areas, as well as kayaks, motorboats and larger fishing yachts. The current Steam store lists more than 300 fish species and 27 waters. Because the game is continuously expanded over time, such figures can change.

Fishing together and crossplay

Fishing Planet offers joint fishing, clubs and competitions with leaderboards. Several players can travel together on large sea yachts. Online play and a stable internet connection are a fundamental part of the product.

The developer explicitly limits crossplay to certain platform groups: Steam with Epic Games Store, Android with iOS, and Xbox with the Microsoft Store version for Windows. According to the official FAQ, there is no cross-platform play between PlayStation, Switch and the other groups. Game progress and purchases cannot be transferred between platform accounts.
