Ghost of Yōtei

Ghost of Yōtei is a standalone open-world action game from Sucker Punch Productions. About 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima, the story follows the mercenary Atsu, who travels through Ezo in 17th-century Japan and hunts the six outlaws who killed her family.

The game combines open-world exploration with melee and ranged combat, different weapon styles, mythical stories and optional encounters.

Ghost of Yōtei was released for PlayStation 5 on Oct 2, 2025. Since Oct 1, 2026, the Complete Edition has bundled the base game with additional content, including the story expansion Echoes of Sekigahara and the single-player mode Most Wanted. Owners of the base game can get this content through the separately sold Complete Edition upgrade.

Ghost of Yōtei was released natively for PlayStation 5 and supports PlayStation 5 Pro. A PS4 version is not planned; a native PC or Xbox version has not been announced.

Atsu combines melee and ranged combat with several weapon types and develops her fighting style through training and new equipment. The open world of Ezo combines the main story, bounties, mythical stories, allies and optional discoveries. The PS5 version uses adaptive triggers, haptic feedback and 3D audio, among other features.

Echoes of Sekigahara is a story expansion that switches between the present and flashbacks to Atsu's past on the Japanese mainland. It introduces Nagato, a new valley, additional enemy types, heavy weapons, armour and colour variants.

Most Wanted is a separate single-player combat mode with roguelike structure. Players choose from several characters, accept bounties of increasing difficulty and earn perks and additional unlockable characters during runs.

Most Wanted permanently adds a single-player survival mode with repeatable bounty runs to Ghost of Yōtei. Four playable characters have different combat styles, including Jin Sakai with his four well-known stances. The Ashoro Foothills area brings new enemies, heavy weapons, mythical stories, abilities and cosmetic rewards.

Patch 2.0 adds the Beauty of Yōtei mode for viewing and photographing the landscapes of Ezo to everyone, regardless of the Complete Edition upgrade. It also adds extra music for Watanabe Mode, the option to combine the look of one armour with the stats of another, and a new high-contrast option.

Since Oct 1, 2026, Ghost of Yōtei supports Quick Spectral Super Resolution (QSSR) on the standard PS5 as an additional graphics option. Sony's AI upscaling is intended to improve fine image detail and temporal stability in particular; PSSR remains the more powerful option for the PS5 Pro.
