What is Goat Simulator 3?

Goat Simulator 3 is an open third-person sandbox by Coffee Stain North centered on Pilgor and the island of San Angora. Instead of a classic campaign path, the game focuses on physics-based chaos, freely combinable equipment, quests, events, collectibles and deliberately absurd experiments with the game world.

The core principle stays true to the series: headbutts, licking, jumps and a large amount of improvised nonsense form the toolset, but in Part 3 they are combined with a much larger world, cooperative systems and long-term content updates.

Platforms

Goat Simulator 3 has been released as a standalone game for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 as well as iOS and Android. Releases are spread over several years and differ in some features. On PC the game first came out in November 2022 outside Steam, where it only became available on Feb 15, 2024.

The mobile port came out on Dec 5, 2023 for iOS and Android. On Nintendo Switch the game launched on Aug 27, 2024. The later PS4 and Xbox One versions are native releases from Oct 24, 2024, not just backward compatibility. On Nintendo Switch 2, an explicitly confirmed native version has been available since Apr 1, 2026.

Co-op group sizes are not identical on every platform: on PS4 and Xbox One, Coffee Stain lists two players locally or online. The Switch version also supports two-player co-op, while PC and current consoles allow larger groups.

Gameplay

San Angora is built as a large, freely explorable sandbox. Players find quests, hidden areas, collectibles and world events, can use vehicles and interact with fire, electricity or alien slime. Many mechanics are less rigid systems than a toy box in which physics and equipment are combined.

The customizable goats wear equipment from horn to hoof; many items have their own abilities and change movement or interaction with the environment.

Game series

Goat Simulator 3 continues Coffee Stain's absurd sandbox series after the first Goat Simulator. The numbering deliberately skips a second part. Pilgor remains the central character, while Part 3 expands the series with a larger open world, co-op and a much broader post-launch content rollout.
