GreedFall

GreedFall is a single-player action RPG by Spiders. As the envoy De Sardet, you explore the island of Teer Fradee, where colonial powers, merchants and native communities compete for influence.

Quests can often be solved through dialogue, deception, stealth or combat. Decisions affect relations with factions and companions.

GreedFall was released for PC on September 9, 2019. The original console versions followed on September 10 for PS4 and Xbox One. Native versions for PS5 and Xbox Series were released on June 30, 2021.

The versions for the newer console generation offer shorter loading times and improved graphics. According to the publisher, performance mode allows up to 60 frames per second.

GreedFall has been released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series. The PS5 and Xbox Series versions are separate native releases, not just the old console versions via backward compatibility.

For PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, upgrades and save transfers were offered during the generation change.

Dialogue, stealth, exploration and combat interlock in the missions. Besides direct fights, conflicts can be influenced through diplomatic skills or clever preparation.

The story responds to alliances and decisions, so not every quest has to end the same way.

The story expansion The De Vespe Conspiracy was released on June 30, 2021. It takes you to a new area on Teer Fradee and adds a conspiracy, extra enemies and more equipment.

The Gold Edition includes the base game and this expansion. The Adventurer’s Gear equipment pack is separate additional content.

For Windows, Steam lists at least 8 GB RAM, an Intel Core i5-3450 or AMD FX-6300, and a GeForce GTX 660 or Radeon HD 7870. 25 GB of storage space is required.

For higher settings, 16 GB RAM and, among others, a GeForce GTX 980 or Radeon RX 590 are recommended. The historical system specs list a 64-bit Windows system.

De Sardet travels as a diplomat to an island full of ancient magic and dangerous creatures. Several powers are trying to open up new territories and resources there. At the same time, the traditions of the islanders play a central role.

Relations between the groups shape the story just as strongly as the companions' personal motives.

GreedFall puts political negotiations and loyalty conflicts alongside combat. A decision in favor of one group can worsen relations with other groups.

Diplomatic skills open up additional dialogue options and allow solutions without violence in certain situations.

Companions support De Sardet on expeditions and in combat. Their own origins and loyalties play a role in personal quests.

How you deal with the different factions also affects your relationship with your companions.

The combat system combines melee weapons, firearms and magic. Skills and equipment determine which tools you can use in combat.

A tactical pause function gives you time to prepare actions and choose your next steps.

De Sardet's gender, appearance and abilities can be customised. Various talents, skills and attributes boost combat, magic or dealing with conversation partners, for example.

New equipment and upgrading your character change how you approach encounters and quests.

Teer Fradee consists of several explorable areas with settlements, wilderness and magically shaped locations. Between the main quests, side missions and encounters with various factions await.

The game focuses on connected role-playing regions rather than a single seamless map.

GreedFall is a single-player role-playing game. Steam lists German text and subtitles. The full voice-over is available in English.

A cooperative multiplayer mode is not part of the main game.
