What is Green Hell?

Green Hell is a survival game by Creepy Jar that takes you into the Amazon rainforest, either alone or with other players. Hunger, thirst, disease and injuries are just as dangerous as predators and getting lost in the jungle.

The environment provides food and resources, but requires careful decisions. The character's mental state also affects survival.

Gameplay

The game world is a dense rainforest with rivers, animals, plants and dangerous paths. The search for food and clean water has to be balanced with rest breaks, safe campfires and building shelters.

Wounds are examined directly on the body. Without proper treatment, diseases, parasites or infections can become serious problems.

Health and mental strain

Health does not depend on hit points alone. Nutrition, thirst, sleep, external injuries and infections each require different countermeasures.

In addition, Green Hell monitors the mental state of your character. Lack of safety and lasting strain can make staying in the jungle much harder.

Food and water

Food must be obtained by gathering, hunting or later by farming. Different foods meet different needs, so a one-sided diet is not enough in the long run.

Water is not automatically drinkable either. Suitable containers, fire pits and careful supply planning help you survive longer expeditions.

Tools, weapons and crafting

Tools, simple weapons and equipment are made from wood, stones, rope and other found items. Which items can be crafted is revealed as you explore.

Hunting weapons, traps and medical aids are designed for different situations. If you collect materials deliberately, you will less often have to return to camp unprepared.

Camp building and long-term survival

A camp serves as a protected place for sleep, fire, supplies and processing materials. Larger shelters can be gradually expanded with construction and storage functions.

Later add-ons include transport, fortifications and decoration, among other things. This allows a makeshift shelter to grow into a larger base.

The story of Jake Higgins

In story mode, anthropologist Jake Higgins follows the trail of his missing wife Mia in the Amazon region. A radio connects him with a familiar voice while he tries to understand the events behind the expedition.

The plot combines the search for answers with the same physical and psychological dangers that also shape open survival.
