Gunboat God

Gunboat God is a fast 2D shoot-’em-up with an armed speedboat. The boat travels through short combat missions, dodges projectiles and destroys enemies with cannons, lasers and bombs. The goal is to return to a citadel in the sky.

The game combines side-scrolling action with movement in all directions, numerous projectiles and controls designed around repeatable missions.

Gunboat God released on PC on Apr 13, 2026. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions followed on Apr 29, 2026. For Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android, Nov 17, 2026 has been announced.

On smartphones, the first game region can be tried for free and without ads. The remaining content is then unlocked by purchase.

Gunboat God is already available for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Standalone versions for Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android release on Nov 17, 2026.

Controls and features differ by platform. Local co-op is explicitly named for PC and Xbox Series X|S. The PlayStation product page lists one player.

You steer your boat through battles and environmental hazards. Dodging, jumping and ramming attacks let you overcome enemies and get through volleys of projectiles. The boat can change its shape and properties while moving to perform different manoeuvres.

The high pace demands precise movement. The game rewards replaying missions with a higher score and better combat results.

For the PC version, Steam lists Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel Core i5-2400 or equivalent processor, and a GeForce GT 130 with 512 MB graphics memory. Around 500 MB of free storage is required.

Gunboat God includes over 200 short levels and more than 20 mission types. These include different objectives and rules. Fireshine Games names the mission types Collision Course, Outlast and Boil, among others.

The short missions can be replayed to improve your route and earn a higher rating.

The boat features eight different weapon types and more than ten abilities, upgrades and special powers. The weapons include cannons, lasers and bombs. Weapons can be upgraded to change damage, range or special effects.

The talking crocodile mechanic Yeti helps you upgrade the boat for tougher tasks.

Gunboat God pits the boat against multi-stage boss enemies and numerous smaller foes. The different attacks demand quick switches between offensive and defensive moves.

Between missions you can unlock new weapons and upgrade existing abilities before facing tougher encounters.

On PC and Xbox Series X|S, local co-op for two players is planned. The Steam version also supports Remote Play Together. On PS5, the store lists one player instead. The announced smartphone versions will have their own control scheme.

On iOS and Android, players can play the first region for free and without ads. The full version can then be purchased. Fireshine Games describes this model as try before you buy.

The announced Nintendo Switch version releases on the same day as a regular purchase. Fireshine Games has only named the Nintendo Switch and has not announced a separate Switch 2 version.

The PC version supports German on-screen text and eleven languages in total. These include English, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Polish, Russian, Portuguese and Ukrainian.

The PS5 version also lists eleven on-screen languages. The language packs offered may differ on other platforms.

Gunboat God is the first game developed solely by Australian developer Thomas Janson, who works under the name Janson RAD. He previously worked on Wave Wave and Death Hall, among others. The publisher is Fireshine Games.
