A destroyed future for Russia

Hail to the Rainbow depicts a post-apocalyptic Russia with industrial plants, improvised technology and abandoned settlements. The cyberpunk style shows not only in machines and screens, but also in how Ignat discovers traces of a former society.

His personal story and the events before the collapse are revealed through memories, found objects and encounters. The game unfolds these connections step by step rather than revealing them at the start.

Horror and combat

The gloomy locations and Ignat’s isolation shape the game’s horror. Enemies and individual combat sequences interrupt exploring the environment. Hail to the Rainbow is therefore not a pure puzzle game, but it also doesn’t rely exclusively on shootouts.

According to Steam, the PC version is aimed at an adult audience and may contain depictions of violence.

Single player and extra features

Hail to the Rainbow is designed for a single player. The Xbox versions support achievements and cloud saves. The PlayStation versions allow offline play, and on PS5 also Remote Play.

A photo mode lets you take your own shots of the game world. After completing the game, further content becomes accessible that invites you to explore again.

Music and sound

The atmospheric soundtrack comes from Nobody’s Nail Machine. It accompanies the quiet, often oppressive passages as well as the more dangerous sections. On PC, the music is also available as a separate soundtrack product. It is not a standalone version of the game.

German text and voice acting

The PC version offers German menus and subtitles. The voice languages listed there are English and Russian. The PlayStation version lists the same spoken languages and, among others, German as a display language.

This means the story can be read in German without requiring a German dub.
