The PC version was released on Dec 12, 2018. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One followed on Sep 29, 2021.
On Jan 30, 2024, standalone native versions were released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Gameplay
Insurgency: Sandstorm relies on scarce resources, controlled movement and coordinated roles within the team. Equipment is put together using a points system, which balances weapons, protection, optics and other gear against each other.
Many game modes revolve around capturing or defending objectives. Class distribution, communication and coordinated advances shape the gameplay.

Insurgency: Sandstorm was expanded over several years with free Operations. Ongoing updates added maps, equipment and challenges. Paid Year Passes and editions mainly bundle cosmetic content.
