What is Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis?

Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis is the sixth main entry in Ironhide's tower defense series and is designed as a prequel. Instead of moving Linirea's story forward, the game travels back to the early days of the kingdom: the goal is to stop the young Vez'nan before his corruption shapes the later story.

Players defend fixed paths with towers, lead heroes directly across the battlefield and cast spells at critical moments. Genesis picks up the core of the classic series but expands it with new combinations of towers, heroes, spells and challenge modes.

Gameplay

The campaign includes 18 hand-built stages across three landscapes of Linirea. 15 towers, 12 heroes and nine spells are available. Two heroes can be deployed per stage at the same time, which ties classic tower planning more closely to active hero abilities.

More than 40 enemy types, five enemy factions and six large boss fights make up the opposing side. The core remains classic lane-based tower defense: read the paths, control chokepoints, combine towers sensibly and use active abilities at the right moment.

Classic Mode

The permanent Classic Mode follows the structure of the original Kingdom Rush. In this mode, only the four classic tower families – Archers, Barracks, Mages and Artillery – are available, with their original upgrade paths. Plus exactly one hero and the classic spells Rain of Fire and Reinforcements.

Ironhide describes the mode as a playable tribute to the 2011 original. It runs through the full campaign and is therefore more than a single challenge level.

Campaign and upgrade system

Towers, heroes and spells can be customised through their own upgrade systems. Following feedback on the demo, Ironhide reworked the user interface and returned to more global tower upgrades, closer to the early series entries.

The 18 campaign stages are spread across three landscapes and are supplemented by additional challenge modes. Alongside Iron Challenge and Blitz Challenge, there are variants such as Hero Party, where four heroes compete without spells, and Spell Rush without heroes.

Game series

Genesis is a prequel to the existing Kingdom Rush timeline. Ironhide deliberately returns to the world and era of the first game, showing familiar characters, locations and conflicts at an earlier point in time.

The title was released for the series' 15th anniversary and combines new systems with a deliberate return to the original tower defense structure. Genesis is therefore not a remake of the first Kingdom Rush, but a new series entry that retells its past.
