Loftia starts Early Access on Nov 3, 2026. The current official FAQ gives 1:00 PM Eastern Time as the start time. Qloud Games sees Early Access as a long-term foundation: new activities, areas, social features and community content are meant to be expanded after launch.

Early access is therefore not just a preview, but the first public long-term phase of a persistent MMO world that is to be developed further together with the community.

The public closed beta is starting; more than 25,000 players will later take part in the testing phase.

Steam Deck is officially supported at early access launch, as are controllers and gamepads. A Nintendo Switch version is planned to follow later. Other platforms are a long-term goal but not yet scheduled.

Cross-play is explicitly wanted by Qloud Games and is being tested, but it is so far not firmly promised.

Gameplay

Loftia combines classic life sim systems with a persistent online world. Everyday life consists of gathering, crafting, farming, housing, exploration and social activities. Much can be played alone; for bigger adventures, puzzles and world projects, players can team up with others at any time.

Instead of fighting or raid progression, Loftia focuses on cooperation. Progress comes from expanding your own island, sustainable production systems, shared projects and exploring new areas. According to the current FAQ, NPC friendships are planned as an additional system but are not yet part of the confirmed early access scope.

Loftia is a paid game. Qloud Games does not plan any paid gameplay DLC or expansions; new content during and after early access is meant to be free for owners of the game.

Additional revenue is planned through optional cosmetic microtransactions and a cosmetic Season Pass. According to the studio, these should not provide any gameplay advantages.

Farming, resources and renewable energy

Agriculture is one of the central systems of Loftia. Alongside classic beds, the game relies on hydroponics, aquaponics and climbing plant cultivation. Resources are gathered, processed and reused; crafting and upcycling directly feed into expanding your own island.

The solarpunk idea is more than just scenery. Tools and other systems are powered by renewable energy, which is obtained from sun, wind and water or rain, among other sources. Qloud Games has described these sustainability systems from the start as a core game mechanic, not just a decorative theme.

Housing and shared neighborhoods

Every player can design their own floating island as a home. Buildings, furnishings and outdoor areas can be decorated and tailored to their own style.

The special MMO aspect comes from neighborhoods: personal islands can be connected to other players' islands. This creates shared areas where people decorate, farm, craft and spend time together. Friends can also help design living spaces or live together.

Exploration, adventure and movement

Beyond your own island, Loftia takes you through floating biomes, abandoned factories and other areas outside the city. There you collect resources, discover secrets and complete quests. Adventures combine exploration with puzzles and platforming and can be played alone or together.

According to the current early access overview, movement tools include gliders, grappling hook ropes and jetpack boots. These tools are meant to make the vertical world of floating islands more fun to use.

Community projects and world progress

Individual progress and shared world progress are linked in Loftia. Players contribute resources and work to community projects, which permanently develop the shared world further.

Such projects can unlock new resources, reveal hidden stories and make further islands accessible. Qloud Games describes the underlying World Progress system as a core mechanic that also drives the overall development of the solarpunk world forward.

Character creation, clothing and animal companions

The character editor is designed for wide customization. In addition to different body and style options, players can design clothing and living space in various aesthetics. The Epic Games Store lists, among other things, organic colors and dyes that can be used to color items individually.

Animals are more than pure decoration: players can rescue and adopt animals, take them along on explorations and dress them in outfits. Confirmed examples range from capybaras and turtles to other native and endangered species.

Development and community

Loftia began in 2022 as a small browser project and was then practically rebuilt for a larger MMO production. Qloud Games grew from a very small team into an international studio in the process.

The Kickstarter raised around $1.3 million. In April 2026, according to Sims Community, more than 25,000 players took part in the closed beta. This testing phase was used, among other things, to prepare server load, systems and the transition to public early access.
