Gameplay
You explore an increasingly dangerous apartment building and regularly return to Sam's apartment. In other people's rooms you find supplies and clues, run into transformed residents and decide which people to trust.
The game combines bird's-eye exploration with turn-based encounters. Equipment, ammo and resources are limited. If you stay out too long, you risk having to return to the safe retreat without enough supplies.

Survival and daily life
Your apartment is Sam's retreat. There you can cook, craft tools, rest and spend time with people who join you. The search for food and materials in neighboring apartments provides the basis for further expeditions.
The story revolves around a set time window of 15 days. Decisions in the building affect which encounters and endings you experience.

Combat and enemies
Combat is turn-based against more than 150 individually designed creatures. The position and distance of enemies determine when they can be attacked and how dangerous an encounter is. Improvised weapons, ammo and consumables therefore play a crucial role.
Enemies include monstrously transformed residents and especially resilient bosses. The graphic body horror depiction, with blood and violence, is an integral part of the game.

Neighbors and allies
Not every resident of the building is an enemy. On your forays you meet characters with their own agendas. Some can join Sam and find refuge in the apartment. Other encounters call for caution and affect how the story unfolds.
Daily life with allies creates a contrast to the fights and the threatening environment outside the apartment.

The console versions
On Oct 30, 2026, Look Outside launched on four console platforms. PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 each received their own release.
The setting remains the residential house, where Sam searches for food, weapons and answers. The turn-based combat and survival between his excursions remain core to the game.

Body horror and design
The pixel art deliberately depicts the grotesque transformations of the house's residents in a drastic way. Creatures that emerged from the house's original everyday life lurk behind doors and in hallways. The mix of human encounters and monstrous transformation shapes the tone of the story.
The game shows graphic violence and disturbing body changes. The threatening atmosphere comes from the confined space of the house and the question of whom Sam can still trust.

Choices and multiple endings
Look Outside's story offers multiple endings. Encounters with neighbors, how you treat survivors and the search for answers change Sam's path through the house.
The 15-day scenario combines exploration and resource scarcity with a story in which not every resident is an enemy.
