What is Militsioner?

In Militsioner tries a seemingly innocent person to leave a nameless city. The unusual obstacle is a police officer the size of a building, who watches the residents from above. Instead of a fixed sequence of fights, this surreal immersive sim focuses on exploration, social interaction, theft, distraction and self-chosen escape routes. The city reacts to behaviour. Who you help, who you deceive and how conspicuously you act can change later situations.

Release

Source: Steam

Since Oct 8, 2026, a free PC demo is available on Steam. It is a standalone, limited preview and not a release of the full version. Developer TALLBOYS and publisher CRITICAL REFLEX plan the complete game for 2027; an exact month or day is still missing. Game Pass was already announced for Xbox at launch. The PC demo does not predict the launch of the console versions or the final price.

Platforms

Confirmed are a Windows PC version on Steam and Xbox versions. The official Xbox product page lists Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S separately as playable and also names PC and Xbox Play Anywhere. Microsoft announces the game for 2027 on Game Pass, specifically for Xbox Series X|S and PC too. The free demo is so far only available on Steam for PC. A separate release on PlayStation, Switch, Linux or macOS cannot be inferred from this.

Gameplay

Militsioner offers tasks without only one prescribed solution path. A ticket could be obtained, for example, by persuasion, trade or an illegal act. Characters and the giant police officer have mood systems; actions and dialogue choices change how the city reacts. Daily routines, available items, distractions and avoiding sight lines work together here. If an escape attempt fails, changes and reactions in the world are meant to suggest new approaches.

System requirements

For the demo, Steam lists at least a Core i5-6600 or Ryzen 3 1300X, 8 GB RAM, a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or Radeon RX 570 with 4 GB graphics memory, and 20 GB of space. These values apply to the demo and should not be taken over unchecked as final minimum requirements for the full version. Its Steam page currently lists only a 64-bit Windows system and 20 GB of storage. Steam itself has supported at least Windows 10 on PC since 2024, even though older versions appear in the demo profile.

The giant is more than a pursuer

The officer can watch the streets from above and step in when behavior seems suspicious. However, he is not simply an unbeatable enemy on patrol: according to the developer, he is meant to react emotionally, be influenced and at times even be courted. Players can try to avoid his attention, trick him or use his stance for an escape. The game places this unusual relationship alongside the ordinary residents and their own worries and schedules.

What does the free demo include?

The demo, released on Oct 8, 2026, shows one city district with streets, rooftops and sewer access. TALLBOYS names a funicular as the central escape goal of this test version. The route to the car is not fixed to a single solution: residents, access points and the giant's moods can become obstacles or advantages. This selection conveys the intended freedom of action, but does not yet prove the scope of all areas and tasks of the later full game.

Consequences, replays and time

Actions are not supposed to fizzle out without consequences. According to the studio, residents react to fraud, help and crimes; the giant is also said to remember earlier encounters. Time plays a role too, because vehicles and people have their own routines. If you ruin one attempt, you can try other routes, times or relationships. How consistently the full version implements these systems has not yet been independently verified before the release date.

Languages and game mode

Steam lists the finished Militsioner as a single-player game. German menus and subtitles are listed, but German voice audio is not. The demo also offers German on-screen text and subtitles. A co-op mode, a crossplay system or a separate Linux version are currently not confirmed on the official product pages.

Studio, publisher and game concept

Militsioner is developed by the studio TALLBOYS; publishing is handled by CRITICAL REFLEX. The current public development status is communicated via Steam. After the PC demo, the full version and the Xbox versions are set to follow in 2027. The quirky giant officer is at the center of a reactive game world, not a classic boss fight with fixed attack patterns.
