Platforms

The base game was released natively for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. PC, PS4 and Xbox One share the core racing offering with motocross, quads, UTVs, freestyle and open areas.

Multiplayer capacity differs: on PC and the original home consoles, up to 16 online participants and split-screen for two players are planned. Nintendo lists online races with up to eight participants for Switch, as well as local multiplayer options. The Switch version supports handheld, tabletop and TV modes.

Gameplay

On unpaved tracks, weight shifting, precise landings and choice of line are crucial. According to Rainbow Studios, the riding physics are meant to account for the rider's movement and changes in the surface. On expansive areas, players can ride away from fixed race series and practice jumps or corner sequences.

Free rides and competitions use the same basic selection of motorcycle, ATV and UTV classes, which differ in cornering behavior and jumps.

DLCs and expansions

Additional vehicle models, manufacturer packs and tracks were released for MX vs ATV All Out. These include the Ricky Carmichael Farm, Hometown MX Nationals and content around the AMA Pro Motocross Championship 2020.

These expansions add to the base game but do not replace it. Some vehicle packs include specific motorcycles or quads instead of a new campaign. Which packs are available depends on the respective platform store.

Race series and game modes

Supercross focuses on tight stadium tracks with jump sequences. Nationals and Opencross take place on larger off-road courses. Waypoint races require navigating between set checkpoints. Tag is also part of the multiplayer offering.

If you don't want to compete, you can use the open environments to explore and practice. This lets you get to know machines and tracks without being tied to a placing right away.

Freestyle and stunts

Freestyle mode puts tricks and jump control in the foreground. Unlike classic races, it is about performing stunts in the air. If you attempt a risky combination, you also have to control the landing afterwards.

Big jumps can also be tried out during free exploration before being used in competition.

Game series

Rainbow Studios developed MX vs ATV All Out for publisher THQ Nordic. The title continues the series of off-road racing games with motocross and quads, but expands the offering with freely drivable areas and a larger vehicle selection.

MX vs ATV Legends later appeared as a standalone sequel. Vehicles and tracks from All Out are therefore not automatically part of Legends.
