Penny Blood

Penny Blood is a Gothic horror JRPG directed by Matsuzo Machida. The story follows a bleak investigation through the 1920s and combines classic JRPG structures with cosmic horror.

Penny Blood currently has no confirmed release date. Studio Wildrose said in March 2026 that it was still talking with potential publishing partners. In October 2026, Machida again confirmed that no publisher has been secured yet.

After the console stretch goal was reached, the Kickstarter campaign named PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X as target platforms. A “Next-gen Nintendo hardware” backer option was also mentioned at the time. There is currently no explicit confirmation for Nintendo Switch 2.

The combat system combines turn-based JRPG battles with real-time inputs via the Psycho-Sigil-System. The official game description explicitly puts timing and reaction alongside classic tactical decisions.

The story begins in 1923, five years after World War I. Penny Blood takes you through locations in the USA, Europe and Asia and combines the political and social aftereffects of the war with supernatural and cosmic horror.

Penny Blood was funded in 2022 together with Armed Fantasia through a Double Kickstarter campaign. 17,920 backers pledged a combined ¥379,328,385. The console stretch goal was reached.
