What is Plantlife: Market Garden Simulator?

Plantlife: Market Garden Simulator is a building game about running a market garden. You turn an undeveloped plot into a horticultural business, lay out beds, hire employees and organise the sale of your harvest. The game is developed by Twice Circled, the studio behind Megaquarium.

The focus is on how crop selection, farm design and workflows work together. A team you build takes over recurring tasks, while you decide how the business should grow.

Gameplay

At the centre are around 100 crops, each requiring different conditions for a successful harvest. You plan the sowing, take care of the upkeep and decide when products are sold or processed.

If you simply grow everything without coordinating the processes, you waste space and working time. Instead, the business has to connect the different crops with its paths, equipment and available staff.

Employees turn handcraft into a business

You place equipment and buildings and decide which plants to grow. Staff then independently handle upcoming care and harvesting tasks. What matters most is therefore less constant manual harvesting and more how sensibly beds, paths and workstations are arranged.

This recalls the staff management of Megaquarium, but moves the planning from an aquarium to an agricultural business.

Jam, preserves and beer from the harvest

Harvested vegetables and fruit can be sold directly or processed into other goods in your own production kitchen. Twice Circled gives jam, pickled vegetables and beer as examples.

Planning does not end at the field edge. Raw materials need to reach processing, workstations need to be set up properly and finished products need to be made ready for sale.

Permanent unlocks in career mode

Career tasks permanently unlock new plants and equipment. As your career rank rises, so does the number of employees you can hire. Later farms therefore allow larger and more complex operations than at the start.

The developer does not use time limits. So you can optimise your economic performance or design your garden at your own pace.

From Megaquarium to market garden

Twice Circled previously developed the aquarium building game Megaquarium. Plantlife is a standalone game from the same studio and not an expansion of the aquarium simulator.

Both games focus on designing your own facility and deploying staff effectively. Plantlife adds the changing needs of crops and the processing of the harvest. Twice Circled says it is still working on Megaquarium.
